Protecting your corporate data against unauthorized access is one of the main tasks of the security department. It is indeed not in the interests of the company to have distrusted third parties viewing or in the worst case, the wrong people using your data and information. The remedy are smartcards and Identity and Access Management solutions by Raiffeisen Informatik, offering efficient protection of your data and IT resources.
While passwords have so far been considered as a sufficient authentication method (single factor), smartcards provide an additional security factor - it is no longer sufficient to know the password (factor "knowledge"), you also need to have a smartcard to identify yourself (factor "possession") and be granted access to resources. This is called two-factor authentication. Alternatively, the combination of smartcard and biometric methods (such as fingerprint, factor "identity") can further increase the security level.
