What Saving Potentials Can Be Realized by Using Electronic Invoices?
Electronically sent invoices lacking digital signature will not be accepted by the fiscal authorities from prospectively the 1st of January 2008.
In such case no VAT tax deduction may be claimed on the part of the customer. Transmission of invoices is then only permissible using regular mail or electronically in combination with a digital signature.
However, not only the legal outline conditions make us consider the changeover to electronically signed invoicing. The cost saving potentials in comparison with the invoices sent by mail are quite considerable.
Around 700 million hardcopy invoices are sent in Austria annually, thereof 180 million at regular intervals. Postage, paper, envelopes, and work-outlay dispatching result in high costs.
If you change over to electronic billing documents, the saving potentials estimated by the market research institute Ovum could be up to 70 percent. In figures this equals around 1.5 billion Euros every year.
