Success Story

Orange profits from the SAP expertise of Austria’s largest computing centre

08.09.2009

When put to the test Raiffeisen Informatik GmbH shows itself to be a profitable and reliable alternative to in-house operation

“When re-awarding the SAP outsourcing contract, a benchmarking process was performed in which Raiffeisen Informatik had a clear edge over the competition”, explained Orange Austria’s CTO, Elmar Grasser (Dipl.-Ing.). According to Mr Grasser, Raiffeisen performed well in a number of areas, including expertise, security and, of course, cost effectiveness. What’s more, Raiffeisen Informatik’s strong local presence means it is able to guarantee fast reaction times and also ensure that agreements are quickly reached.   In the first quarter of 2009 Raiffeisen GmbH was entrusted with basic SAP operation for the innovative mobile communications operator, Orange Austria Telecommunication GmbH, following a project duration of 4 months.

Transparency as the key to successful SAP outsourcing

The transfer of seven SAP systems and three SAP modules was defined by the clear specification of project goals and process requirements based on empirical values. The transparent representation of the processes supported by SAP, the resulting system loads as well as future performance requirements guided the ambitious project plan through the various stages up to successful realisation.

Transfer of the Orange SAP infrastructure

More than 100 interfaces were integrated into Orange Austria Telecommunication GmbH’s outsourced SAP infrastructure in record time. A new, more secure and highly available SAP landscape was developed for Controlling, Accounting and Procurements. Approx. 6.5 terabytes of data are processed and saved at separate locations. The data is automatically mirrored and saved. This virtualised infrastructure will allow Orange to continue growing without the need for technical upgrades. These systems are employed for the logistics of the mobile communications operator – from the ordering and warehousing of mobile phones through to their delivery – as well as for the calculation of the services used (call minutes, text messages and the data volume used). Raiffeisen Informatik guarantees the high degree of security required.
